She is an interdisciplinary Artist/Teacher – using scholarship, independent world travel, research and serendipitous opportunity to inform her practice. Jodi has exhibited her work consistently since 1989 in venues ranging from one-person museum shows to small town extravaganzas in the US and UK, including the Tate Modern and the Manhattan Cultural Center.  Jodi often works in conjunction with other scholars around the globe to propel collaborative efforts and earned her MFA at Goddard College, where she studied with artists such as Dread Scott, Devora Neumark and Peggy Diggs - she also earned a MA in Painting and a  BS in Art Education and Political Science from Central Michigan University.

Believing art and life can combine to enhance a healthy lifestyle, Jodi also studies health and nutrition modalities and enjoys coaching others towards wellness.  She holds various fitness certifications - with one pending from Cornell University.

 
As a world traveler, she has  seen much of the world's ancient treasures; studied language and culture in Cadiz, Spain; and has led students on excursions to NYC, Pittsburgh and Southeast Asia.
 
Jodi A. Patterson has more than two decades of teaching experience in public schools and universities. Most recently, Jodi worked as an Assistant Professor of Art and the Coordinator of Art Education for Shepherd University.  She is recognized for developing  dynamic curriculum programs for teens and adults – often rehabilitating art programs.  For several years, Jodi owned a community art space in Midland, MI, and was active in downtown development; she  worked to bring art to hundreds of inner-city Detroit children via a Saturday art school space while teaching at Wayne State University; and has taught in last-chance programs for delinquent teens in MI and FL. She has written a secondary art education book for pre-service student teachers titled "Brave Art & Teens:  A Primer for Today's High School Art Teacher." www.braveart.info and has published several articles on holistic art education.
